To enhance the curative effects of needle acupuncture, fire acupuncture is also used. They are both 2 useful methodologies in curing illnesses, and they are frequently used together to enhance the curing of illnesses.

It is interesting to note that acupuncture Chinese moxibustion refers to the fire cure. Zhen Jiu which is the Chinese name for acupuncture is made up of Zhen meaning needle, and Jiu which refers to fire.

There are many famous legends pertaining to acupuncture and moxibustion. Two of the frequently quoted ones are Fu Xi creation of the therapeutic stone needles, and Huang Di invention of moxibustion and acupuncture.

It is interesting to note that the acupuncture Chinese moxibustion technique actually started with a housewife! She actually found relief for her aching body while cooking at the stove! This time period of the discovery was known as the Eolithic age, and over time, this method was fine tuned with herbal medicines being added to increase its curative effects.

In moxibustion, the common methods used are moxa cone and cupping. The basic idea is the usage of a glass jar to cover a body part and to allow it to suck the body by putting fire in the jar.

This heating forces the air out of the jar and causes a suction vortex causing the jar to stick to the body. Blood is then stimulated and increases in blood flow. This also stimulates the internal organs of the patient. The moxa cone was also used for the same effect.

Does the placement of the jar for acupuncture Chinese moxibustion play an important part? The answer is yes. You see, certain illnesses can be cured when the affected acupuncture points or meridians of the body are stimulated as required.

To enhance the effectiveness of moxibustion, ginger, mashed garlic or even certain herbs are used during treatments. Generally, the treatment of the cupping of the jar over the body will last between fifteen to twenty minutes. In addition, it is important that the treatment be made over a certain time period so that the effect can be felt.

Since the ancient times, the acupuncture Chinese moxibustion technologies have improved. During modern times, potential equipment setup include acupoint injection, acupoint magnetotherapy, electronic needle moxibustion and microwave needle moxibustion.
