The Clippers were a tired team last year. Things started badly and never particularly got back on track in Los Angeles. By all accounts, Sam Cassell had become a poison in the locker room, so the Clips should be better off without him. They will at least get a new lease on life in their new season, with new incoming rookies and other signings throughout the offseason. The 2008-2009 season should be one of rebirth for the Clippers.
One thing is for sure, though. With the re-emergence of the Lakers as a premiere team in the Western Conference, the bar has been raised for the Clippers.
