What is Magnesium Stearate
If you have looked on the ingredients list of supplement bottles, chances are you have seen magnesium stearate, or stearic acid, listed somewhere. The problem is, this is not an ingredient as such, but a waste product of the manufacturing process.
Magnesium stearate is actually a toxin that enters your body via these supplements, although it is totally useless for your body. Worse though, is that instead of being harmless, and simply excreted, this toxin actually starts rapidly killing your cells.
Why is Stearic Acid In Your Supplements
Because the supplement manufacturers use cottonseed oil to lubricate their machinery, and because this oil creates many toxic compounds when exposed to the high heat during manufacturing. The stearic acid that is formed is a byproduct of these hydrogenated oils and scary as it sounds, this harmful compound makes up as much as 5% of your supplement capsules.
Additionally, with the chemical structure of the fatty acids in Stearic Acid having been altered through close contact with various metal catalysts at extremely high temperatures, the risk of toxicity increases dramatically, introducing countless toxic compounds into your body as a result.
Not only does this waste valuable supplement space just so a company can make more pills and more money, it reduces the effectiveness of the pills you are taking.
While these companies could take precautions to prevent the inclusion of this type of poison in the pills they manufacture, it is cheaper, and more productive, to simply ignore the problem, push their machines harder, and use more lubricant, creating more magnesium stearate.
What Does This Mean for You
Not only are you paying for pills that are made up of as much as 5% of a useless and dangerous compound, but the cottonseed oil used to lubricate machines, and which creates the magnesium stearate, is often also treated with pesticides. This means an additional toxin entering your body every time you swallow a pill.
The only way to avoid this is to check the labels on any supplements you already use, and throw away any that contain magnesium stearate or stearic acid. Then, when buying any supplements, make sure you check the label, and avoid any products that contain these ingredients.
There is an alternative to using these chemicals in the manufacturing of Health Supplements. Some Companies are carefully producing Supplements without any Stearic Acid. Be warned though – this could be difficult, because up to 90% of supplements contain these ingredients in some proportion!
Being a savvy consumer, and avoiding these types of harmful substances, as well as informing others, may convince these unscrupulous manufacturers to take more care, but even if you do it only for yourself, isn’t it worth it?
For the past few years, I have been following everything related to Health. Diets, supplements, exercising, etc. I own several web sites that review health products based on their ingredients and dosage. The research I've done brought me to a rather frightening discovery. This article should open your eyes on how some health Supplements are being processed and hopefully will make you read the list of ingredients before you purchase your next bottles.
